Blog Action Day?!

So, the folks up on /. tell me that today is blog action day. Bloggers are supposed to rise up and together blog about a single topic.

The topic of this blog action day is... the environment.

*yawn*

Err... sorry, did I say that out loud?

See, here's the problem. The environment is an issue with a massive global consciousness already. We all know the environment is fucked. We know that our use of hydrocarbons is killing this planet, and we know we're running out of the cleaner hydrocarbons in the lot of world killers that we use, which means that if we don't do something soon, we'll revert back to using the really dirty ones, like coal. You need me to blog about that, why, exactly?

Bloggers ought to be talking about something else. How about arguing against censorship? Or the status of bloggers as journalists?

Heh, actually it's probably because we bloggers aren't nearly as united as we think. Game Politics, is an example of a blogger/journalist. This site here, dopass.com? Not so much.

Still, censorship is something we can all speak out against, right? As I type this there are whole countries where blogging is illegal. How bad is the environment there, I wonder? I mean, we'll never know on blog action day because those people can't speak out. If the point of Blog Action Day is to raise awareness, then shouldn't the issue of the day be enabling people to raise awareness? Or is that a little too mind-bending?

Ah well, go fix the environment or something, will you? I'm gonna sit over here and keep speaking, while we're all still able.

Peace!
